Reflection Statement:
The three sculptures visually communicate focus point, negative space, and repetition.
While exploring the materials to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on the colors and the use of wood and string in many of my sculptures because I wanted to try to convey something that shows both the elements we had to cover and that is interesting to look at and causes people to ask curious questions to themselves and to others. I decided to include string, glue, wood, and paper in all if not most of my sculptures. I felt the work was lacking in any invention or to create something new so I used a lot of stands if you will, to life things in an captivating image to look at.
I want to keep exploring trying to create new things that are both interesting to and for me and for other people. I want to learn more about using materials for things I had not use them for before this class. This piece allowed me to explore new techniques with thread and new ways of thinking how to create an effective sculpture. The making of this work exposed new ideas such as using color to convey a theme or emotional in a piece of art and to use color itself in a new way and how to use string to create a sort of a wrapping.
